What is Folklore
What is folklore and how does it connect to the Appalachians? Folklore is considered to be a story, song, or any materialistic item that is important to a group or culture in sharing their stories. Throughout the Appalachian Mountain Range, they have a series of stories, some of which are covered here on this website, that help them explain their culture and the background of the land that they live on. Folklore allows people to share their stories, and what they have gone through throughout their lives, whether that be spiritually or figuratively, it gives people a voice to tell their story. I have really enjoyed getting the chance to look over a type of folklore that I have had an interest in for a few years now, and while reading some of these stories and articles, I gained a better understanding of the rules, recommendations, and stories told throughout the Appalachian culture, as well as gaining a more profound appreciation for their culture and stories.
